Basically Missi Roti is a north indian flat bread which is served almost in every north indian restaurant .This bread is basically made up of whole wheat flour and gram flour/Besan.Punjabi Style Missi Roti is very healthy and tasty Indian bread.
People love to eat this delicious roti with any Dal Tadka, Dal Makhni ,Shahi Paneer, Paneer Tikka Masala, Malai Kofta. Everyone has a different choice of their own.
In my home everyone loves to eat this chapati.My husband and 5 year kid really loves to eat this.You can easily make this at home.It is very simple and dont require much ingredients.
Missi Roti is really good for diabetic person also because it contains Besan.

Ingredients :
Wheat Flour 2 cup
Gram Flour/ Besan / Chickpea Flour : 1 cup
Onion : 1/2 cup finely chopped
green chili : 1 chopped (optional)
Yogurt : 1/2 Cup
Dry Spices :
Ajwain / Carom seeds : 1 tsp
Salt : As per taste
Red chili powder : 1/2 tsp (as per your spice level)
Coriander Powder : 1 tbsp
Turmeric powder : 1/2 tbsp
Garam Masala : 1/2 tbsp
Black Pepper powder : 1 tsp
Desi Ghee/ Oil : 2 tbsp
Water : As needed
Method to prepare dough for North Indian Style Missi Roti
Take a big bowl.Add whole wheat flour and besan into it.Mix well.
Add chopped onions and green chili.Then add yogurt and mix well.
Now add mentioned dry Indian spices like ajwain,kali mirch,Dhania powder, garam masala, lal mirch and namak. Mix all well together
Add ghee or oil as per your choice. I added Desi ghee as my family loves to eat Desi ghee you can add any oil as per your taste.
Now add little water and make a smooth dough.
Now dough is ready.Keep it aside for 10 minutes for rest.
After 10 minutes knead it well.Dough is ready.
How to make famous Indian flat bread Missi roti ?
Now take a portion from the dough and make medium size balls.
Take a rolling board or chakla. Spread some wheat flour on it.Then take a ball and roll it well by using rolling or Belna (we call it by this name).
Heat tawa on the gas on medium flame.Remember tava should be hot.
Now place rolled roti on the tawa.
After few seconds you will see the base of the roti is partially cooked.
It is the time to flip roti.
Now apply 1 tsp Desi ghee/oil on the full roti.
When the second side of the roti is cooked just flip it and apply some oil/ghee on another side too.
Flip it again.
Cook for few seconds and your delicious Indian Dhaba Style Missi roti is ready to eat.You can eat it with any vegetable of your choice or raita.
